Where can I find a pickup volleyball game in NYC?

I just moved to New York City (Ridgewood, Queens) and I'm looking for any place to find regular pick up volleyball games. I'd join a league but I don't have tons of money and my schedule is pretty erratic for the time being.

I'm not great but I can hold my own - I played in high school and I was pretty good then - but I'm looking for a place where I can be challenged and work on my skills but where I won't be ignored/sidelined by overcompetitive types. Any suggestions? I used to play at the Lincoln Memorial courts in DC, if anyone's familiar with those, that's sort of what I'm looking for. I'd be cool with either sand and/or indoor.

Depending on where in Ridgewood you live, people play in Maria Hernandez Park, near the Jefferson stop (Irving & Starr make up one of the corners, but I think the courts are on the Suydam side).

NY Urban has open play nights for $10:

I am not endorsing this (I don't play), I just know about it because people I know have gone to these before.
