Where can I procure dried venus fly trap? Not extract, not the live plant - just the dried organic herb.

Is there a reason why you can't buy a live plant and dry it out yourself? They're not too expensive at about $4-$7 and can be ordered online. They may also be available at a local nursery.

Response by poster: It's a good idea - but due to time constraints. It would take about 2 weeks for this plant to dry out completely.

Best answer: I've used this list to track down hard to find herbs. Since the tincture is so readily available, there must be a bulk provider of the dry herb somewhere. Perhaps try contacting people on this list, they may be able to help.

There are faster ways to dry herbs than hanging them out to dry. You can put them in an oven at 100-125ºF. Or you can use Alton Brown's method if you have a box fan and a couple of cheap air filters.

Two weeks? Heck, I can dry out a butchered coon's meat* in 3 days. Anything that takes two weeks to dry unaided needs a dehydrator, just to reduce rot!

(*Long story short: dog snacks. Waste not want not.)
