What old RPG is the melody sampled from on track 2 on Sab the Artist EP?
The track is streaming here: http://sabmusic.bandcamp.com/track/artsy-crafty . There is a melody sample during most of the song, starting at about 9 seconds in. I think it is from some 16-bit RPG, maybe Chronotrigger, but I can't figure it out. Does anyone recognize this?

Best answer: It is Chrono Trigger. Theme heard in many towns early in the game during the 600AD time period. The beginning at 00:00 is also from Chrono Trigger.

Response by poster: So my guess was right... I must have listened to 10 or 15 different Chronotrigger tracks on youtube, I dunno how I missed it. Thanks for another answer, internet!

Whoops, my bad. Although apparently it is the same composer from Xenogears. Can I, uh. Get half credit?

If you want specific song titles: the first sample (the fanfare) is "Fanfare 1" (also called "Lucca's Theme"), and the second sample is "Wind Scene".

Must... resist... uncontrollable... urge... to spend 70 hours... playing Chrono Trigger.... (I even have that Smart Pad original SNES controller-to-USB adapter!)
