An academic Land of Opportunity: forum(s) for exchanging PDFs of books and scholarly articles?
I'm currently writing my thesis; and although I'm usually able to find the literature I need posted online as free ebooks, there are several key books I need* that are out of print, and are, consequently, hard to find and very expensive. Admittedly, my school's library can obtain books via Interlibrary Loan, but it does cause some delay, and the books are only available for a limited period of time. Also, I love the search and annotation features of PDFs.
So basically, I'm hoping for an introduction to some online forums in which people exchange digital versions of books and scholarly articles? Such a place must exist, it just must!
*Alternatively, if there is some blessed scholar out there with a scanned (and, dare I ask, OCR'd) copy of Varela's 1979 Principles of Biological Autonomy, please, please, message me-- I will pay money for a copy.

This post was deleted for the following reason: "help me find stuff I'm to pay for, only for free" really isn't what AskMe is for and asking for specific things 100% not okay. -- jessamyn
