Please hope me. Can anyone personally recommend a good primary care doctor in Manhattan? Must be female, sorry this is non-negotiable.
I'm ready to end my current relationship with my primary care doctor of 10+ years. I've stayed with her probably out of laziness and it's overwhelming for me to keep changing this kind of thing. It's time though and I know I've always been unhappy. I've asked friends but they go out of Manhattan or have male primary care doctors. Must be female, I have had a bad experience. Preferably from 70th down to Soho. I'm really looking for personal experience references please.

Best answer: I used to go to Dr. Katherine Keil when I lived in NYC. I was very happy with her, but the last time I saw her was at least 8 years ago, and I've since long moved out of the city.

Best answer: Can second Laura Fisher. She was absolutely outstanding. Unfortunately had the same issue that she stopped taking my insurance and I couldn't afford to see her out-of-pocket or I'd still be going to her. (My 23rd is XY, if patient gender makes any difference)

Best answer: I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Tammy Leopold. Here's what I said about her on Yelp:
"Dr. Leopold is the best physician I've ever had. She takes time with her patients, and makes sure both that all the patients questions are answered, and that she has gotten all the information she needs to determine what ought to be done. She makes herself available to her patients, and is very good at explaining complicated medical ideas in a way that is easily understandable but also doesn't insult one's intelligence.posted by ocherdraco at 9:42 AM on August 11, 2010
Were I ever to ponder leaving New York, I'd think long and hard about whether leaving Dr. Leopold would be worth it."
Best answer: Dr. Valerie K. Lyon, MD
59 East 54th Street, New York, NY 10022-9250
(212) 750-8330
Friendly, low-key, quirky and smart.

I've been seeing Dr. Ruth Lesnewski from EmpressCallipygos' recommendation in another thread.

I believe she is still at 1385 York Avenue (between 73rd & 74th); the last number I have for her office is (212) 717-5920.
