My mother's birthday is coming up and I'd like to buy her a 'fancy', but usable watering can. Any suggestions?

Haws -- very pretty, very sturdy.

The Victoria and Albert Museum has some pretty watering cans, available online. You can get whole gardening sets in the same designs. If you're in the US, details of US stockists are here.

I have the 9l Haws and it's great but might be kind of heavy for an older person. The indoor metal version looks nice. I don't use the rosette much because I just pour water into the pots and found that a 1/2" copper plumbing elbow fits snugly and works well.

I use one of these for watering. They come in a lot of different colors. They are awesome - check out all of the reviews. The nice thing is that I can fill one with water, water my plants, and then use the empty tubtrug to hold veggies or weeds that I pull or whatever. So handy and multi-functional.

The copper one is beautiful! I want that, and I don't have any plants to water.

Haws do have a great reputation - I will certainly be buying one when I have saved up!
