Problems upgrading to Pro in Flickr because of Yahoo

I used to have a Flickr Pro account, I let it lapse, I now want to upgrade to Pro again. However, when I try and do this, rather than just letting me pay it makes me log into Yahoo and then tells me I can't pay a Pro account because I'm underage. This is because when I set up my Yahoo email account in 1999 I entered the date as my birthday (because it was a mandatory field but they had no right or reason to know it).

So, is there any way of disassociating Flickr (a good product) from Yahoo (a shit one)? Failing that, how do I change my date of birth in Yahoo? There isn't an option for it when I log into my profile. Is it easied to (pointlessly) open a new Yahoo account?

You can change your birthdate, just edit your Yahoo profile. Sign in at pulse.yahoo.com, click Edit Profile Details, then click Edit next to Basics.

If you go to your account page you can choose to use a different Yahoo ID for the flickr account.

So, create a new Yahoo account then associate it as above.

Response by poster: Sign in at pulse.yahoo.com,

I can't, I get this error message: "We're sorry, you are not eligible to view this page." Presumably because, again, it thinks I'm underage? I can only see a different, very limited profile page.

So yeah, it looks like I have to get another Yahoo account. Bleurgh.

You can "Use a different Yahoo! ID for this Flickr account" if you go to the account page vacapinta linked to. Or you could go into the preferences of your yahoo email account and change your info in there. It's a couple of hoops you have to jump through but it'll save you from adding yet another new email account to your collection.

Just so you know, this is why they have a LEGAL OBLIGATION to inquire about your age.
