Credo/Sprint in Los Angeles?

So, Credo, which uses the Sprint network, finally has a smartphone that apparently doesn't suck (the HTC Hero). I'm very tempted to switch over from Verizon, especially since the latter tends to drop calls when I'm sitting in my living room. But I don't want to go from the frying pan into the fire, so to speak. Can any LA Mefites give me your opinion of Sprint's coverage, especially in the Echo Park/Silverlake/Los Feliz area? More generally, if anyone has experience with Credo's customer service, I'd appreciate hearing from you too. I want to support good causes, but I don't want to drive myself crazy in the process.

I have a friend who lives in Torrance, uses Credo and couldn't be happier with it.

I've got a Credo plan out here in VA, and it's great. The one time I needed to call customer service, they were fantastic. Dealing with their billing and customer service has been awesome compared to Verizon and T Mobile, who I've also had plans with.

Not sure if they still offer this, but they used to pay off your severance fee if switching before your contract ends.

My mom and sisters are on a Credo plan, and they've had nothing but trouble with billing errors and customer service mistakes. Replacing a phone was an expensive hassle. They don't recommend it.

In any case, I have a Sprint phone in Los Angeles (sometimes in Los Feliz, usually around Eagle Rock and Glendale), and I've never really noticed problems with the coverage. (But I have a friend who's had Sprint billing and customer service horror stories too.)

Nthing the customer service woes. I used them when they were Working Assets and the service was terrible. Lots of mistakes and miscommunication. It sounds from the other posts like this has not improved over the years, and I think you're better off supporting good causes another way.
