Simple and addictive OSX action games

I'm fond of the products of Japanese studio ABA Games and am looking for similar stuff for my G4 iBook.

I've tried the Gish demo, as well as the Java stuff on the ABA site, but any other suggestions are very welcome.

Starbase Defender seems to fit the type of gameplay you're looking for.

You might want to try Apeiron or one of Ambrosia Software's other games. Very, very addictive stuff.

Ooh! Orbituary, Reckless Drivin', SlopeRider, Dirt Bike 3D (defines "addictive"), Chopper, maybe BallDroppings, and certainly Armagetron. They're very different but they all make the ABA games look like doo-doo. Here's [N] to get you started (or from your employers' point of view, stopped...) - an excellent little 2D ninja game.

See you in the unemployment line!

It's not clear from your post (you mention the java games), but are you aware that some of the the ABA games have been ported to OSX by one "shinichiro.h"? (page is in japanese-- even if you don't have the proper language packs installed, the links to the disk images should still show up)

Anyway, enjoy shooting 'em up.

on preview: ...found a port of noiz2sa as well, this one from someone else. (Doesn't Kenta Cho package his sourcecode into his releases, under some sort of open license? I think these ports just sort of pop up from time to time... )
