Places to stay in Lima

Where should I stay in Lima for one night (two weeks from now)?

This coming July 3rd, I fly into to Lima after 9 pm, and fly out again in the morning before 9 am.

I know there's a Ramada right on the airport site, but it's pretty expensive for just me for one night (c. 200$). I'd like to hear about other suggestions; I'm a single female travelling alone who doesn't speak any Spanish. I don't need any luxuries, but I do want to feel safe and I do want easy airport access.

Have you tried AirBnB?

I did this about 10 years ago for the same reason. I arranged a taxi from the airport to a hotel in Miraflores, and the same guy took me to the airport in the morning. I speak some Spanish, but not much. I suggest trying Tripadvisor. Good luck!

I had a great experience at Hostel Malka when I stayed there in January as a non-Spanish speaker. They have a taxi that comes and gets you from the airport (probably either Carlos or his son Jose Carlos) - though we had issues arranging it so it may be easier to just get a taxi from the huge crush of taxi drivers waiting outside the international arrivals and take it to the hostel. From the hostel, you can easily arrange for them to drive you back to the Airport - I think it was about 50 soles (something like 20 dollars). The hostel itself was nice, clean, friendly, and staffed by folks who speak English (and were friendly and understanding with my attempts to speak Spanish). I believe the rooms are separated by gender, and if you don't mind a dorm they're only $10 a night.

+1 on Miraflores. I stayed at a hostel in the area that I can't remember the name of, but the area is just generally nice.

I was in a similar situation between flights last year, and stayed in a backpacker's place in Callao, probably not more than 500m from the airport - but still requiring a taxi (night & day). Callao's notoriously bad for muggings at any time, and it's a rather shitty, forlorn industrial area where the hostel is. It was tolerably OK for a night, though (private room) & quite safe. Breakfast was provided. I could try to dig up the name if you want, but I don't have it on me right now.

Miraflores is much nicer (an upper middle class haven), but I don't know if it's worth the extra effort for just a night's sleep. It's about half an hour away by taxi. Peruvians don't tend to start early in the morning, so don't expect to find much (anything!) open in Miraflores before you have to get into a cab back to the airport - just in case you might've been planning to wander around and maybe try to find some coffee or breakfast.

If it was me, I'd just shell extra for the airport hotel as it takes time to get anywhere in Lima.

I was just there last week, solo female. I stayed at Ariosto in Miraflores, it was ok. Do be aware the trip from the airport is up to an hour in a taxi (there's some roadworks on the coast road right now). The hotel has pickup but can book a taxi for the return. Try for breakfast perhaps at the Larcomar mall to see the sea.

Best answer: Oh, this was the hostel near the airport. Probably not as much of a party place as they're trying to make out; at least not when I was there (thankfully!).

Response by poster: Thanks for the help, folks. I stayed at the place Ubu mentioned and it was perfect for just the night I was there.
