Help me face my monster!

I have been trying to find an old movie monster featured in a local commercial from my childhood. Might this fellow sound familiar to you?
When I was a child, there was a commercial that showed clips of various old movies. One clip used to scare me half to death, and I've been curious to see this character again since I've been reminded of it (and perhaps even see the movie).
The only scene I can remember was this hideous monster/creature peeking through a bush. He had long wild hair, and eyes that were perhaps hypnotic (kalaidoscope in nature). Maybe a zombie?? The clip was in black and white.
I've searched and searched the intarwebz looking, and have found similar movie monsters, but nothing that matches the memory I have. Help?

Response by poster: Nope, not it (although he is rather scary!). The eyes were much bigger, and perfectly round.

Reminds me of Shatner's gremlin from the Twilight Zone.

Response by poster: The gremlin is actually pretty similar to my memory! The only difference is that the guy I remember had definite kaleidoscope eyes.

Where did you grow up? Can you recall if it was a local commercial?
I vaguely remember something like that being shown on WGN in Chicago, but I'm fuzzy on the exact details right now.

Response by poster: I grew up in Eugene, Oregon. The commercial was for a local station, but it had a montage of classic movie monsters.
