Where can I find annotated rap lyrics?
February 23, 2005 6:56 PM

A few years ago I recall reading a website where lyrics to several popular rap and hip hop tunes were posted with a line by line translation of the slang terms. It also had annotations of some of the more obscure culture references that were in the lyrics. I have searched on Google to no avail. Anyone know what I'm talking about or have seen something similar?

I tried searching for things like "annotated rap lyrics" and I tried to include some of the artists I remembered seeing on there like Eminem and Outkast. No luck. Also, I'm looking for somewhat serious treatments of the lyrics. I've seen the translation of Baby Got Back to Middle English. Not what I'm looking for.

I'm not an old fart, honest! I just want to be hip to the jive talk.

Music critic is pretty good for this.

Music-Critic came to my mind first, and there's also The Rap Dictionary.

Not exactly what you're looking for, but a fun read none the less.

Wow, music-critic is almost exactly what I remember, but I thought it had more tunes listed with the translated lyrics.
