SoCal Cycling: What's the best way to continue through Palos Verdes from Torrance Beach?

I'm bored with my standard ride from Santa Monica to Torrance Beach. I always end up just at the foot of that somewhat intimidating climb, and there is no immediately obvious route to continue south. I'd like to know what the MeFi cycling community has to say about the safest moderately strenuous way to push through Palos Verdes to San Pedro and beyond.

PV Drive is not really that bad. It looks a lot worse from Torrance/Redondo beach than it actually is. There's just a short rise at the start, then it is pretty flat/rolling all the way into San Pedro. Just give it a shot, you can always turn around....

Howdy! I don't ride much on the Westside, but your ride finishes right near a loop I've done several times.

That loop is pretty familiar to the PV riders and there will be lots of people riding it most weekends. There is a good hill on the far side (where I start, not where you would enter) called 'Radio Hill'. If you run the Garmin player, you can see the slow climb around the bend as you would head south.

If you get to around where my start/stop point is, you can just head down 25th into the heart of San Pedro.

I'd love to do a Santa Monica to Long Beach ride one of these days!

Any chance you are going do the LA River Ride this upcoming Sunday? It's my first century ride.

If you want to meet up for that ride or chat more on LA riding, my email is in my profile.
