Help Me Prep for a Rally For California Education!

I'm going to participate in my first protest/rally here in San Diego with local teachers to make a statement about California's educational budget cuts. I need help with my signage...more inside...

Please help me come up with some slogans for signs that are bullet proof, as in, they can't be compared with teapartier signs.

Difficulty: Not much...here's a blurb from the facebook notice:

A rally featuring students, parents and educators to show our support for a strong school system. Stop the state budget cuts, restore funding for education. We need to make our voices heard in Sacramento the week before the budget for next year gets negotiated (behind closed doors).

Please hope us, I know Mefites are really good at this kind of stuff!

Many thanks in advance.

Down here in Chula Vista, the slogan is Cuts Hurt Kids. I dislike this, as it seems alarmist. I would prefer something more future-oriented: "Education today is an investment in a better tomorrow!"

The state's budget is OUR budget
The state's future is OUR children

Cut the budget NOT the future

I'm not sure how big you want your sign, or how complicated. I think if you don't call your opponents names and don't make creepy references to the Third Reich, probably nobody will think you're a teapartier. If you want to reference them specifically, maybe something like "End the Ignorance Tax". That's probably going to require some context, though.

So good that you're getting involved. I was in LA when the consolidated school district had its big rally, and it was stirring.

Best answer: signs that are bullet proof, as in, they can't be compared with teapartier signs. (snsranch)

No, but that's it right there! One protester holds a grammatically awful sign, the protester next to her holds one with an arrow pointing to the first sign which says something like "THIS is why I'm protesting the cuts." (But, you know, snappier.)

There's always the old classic, "It will be a great day when our schools have all the money they need, and the government has to hold a bake sale to buy a bomb!"

You could substitute something else for the word "bomb" - something that you think the state is foolishly spending money on instead of education.
