Firefox and Quicktime problem.

Firefox and Quicktime problem. More inside.

I have Quicktime and Firefox 1.0 installed and usually have no problems with either. However, when I try to listen to the audio pronunciations on answers.com or m-w.com, Firefox doesn't recognise Quicktime. When I try to reinstall, Firefox can't find the missing plug-in and gives me the option to install manually (which I've done - it doesn't fix the problem). Any other time I click on a Quicktime link it works fine - it's only the dictionary audio that's not working (it works in IE). I can only seem to find Google info about Quicktime not working at all, and the advice is usually to reinstall, which obviously I've already tried.

Well, the pronunciations on those sites aren't really Quicktime - they're embedded .WAV files. For some reason Quicktime isn't grabbing the audio/x-wav MIME type in FireFox. If you want Quicktime to handle these, check out this discussion on getting Quicktime to display the MIME types you want it to.
