Firefox and Quicktime problem. More inside.

Response by poster: I have Quicktime and Firefox 1.0 installed and usually have no problems with either. However, when I try to listen to the audio pronunciations on answers.com or m-w.com, Firefox doesn't recognise Quicktime. When I try to reinstall, Firefox can't find the missing plug-in and gives me the option to install manually (which I've done - it doesn't fix the problem). Any other time I click on a Quicktime link it works fine - it's only the dictionary audio that's not working (it works in IE). I can only seem to find Google info about Quicktime not working at all, and the advice is usually to reinstall, which obviously I've already tried.

Best answer: Well, the pronunciations on those sites aren't really Quicktime - they're embedded .WAV files. For some reason Quicktime isn't grabbing the audio/x-wav MIME type in FireFox. If you want Quicktime to handle these, check out this discussion on getting Quicktime to display the MIME types you want it to.
