Why Dave Allen isn't suing everyone who mentions GTD

How did David Allen give his blessing to the entire ecosystem of GTD blogs and software?
There are hundreds of sites and apps and things which implement Getting Things Done to the nth degree. Did David announce that that was all cool at some point, or did this all just build up around the system? I'm designing an app to implement another "system" with its own jargon - (much more loosely than any of the GTD apps) and want to figure out the implications/response before anybody gets their knickers in a twist.
