Anxiety after stroke

Anyone have experience of coping with anxiety following hemorrhagic stroke?

A close relative suffered a hemorrhagic stroke in late January.
He's in his 70s but was extremely fit and active for his age.
Physically, he has recovered very well. His speech has returned to normal and difficulty controlling his right leg is improving with physiotherapy.
However, he has been left with severe anxiety attacks, which are very distressing for him.
Is this normal after a stroke (he's been told it may be a problem with adrenaline release) and what's the best way to ease his suffering?
Any experience or knowledge you can share would be very much appreciated.

It's very common for people suffering serious medical issues to be seeing a therapist and/or psychiatrist.

I've read that some anxiety attacks are actually seizures.
