Is there a TinEye for audio?

Is anyone working on an audio search engine that works like tineye does for images? It lets you search the web for images that contain, or were altered from, the source image you supply them.

I'm listening to some d&b song that samples Worf from Star Trek, and it got me wondering, is there a search engine that I can feed an audio sample, and it can find the songs that have used that sample?

Well, sort of. You need to play it into a mobile device. It works pretty well for music. I don't know if it will work for speech.

I've found Shazam sometimes picking the old-originally sampled song more than the newer song. I've also had a few times where it considers a cover of a song the original which is weird. Really obscure stuff can be problematic. But it can sometimes overcome a noisy bar to grab a song for me. Shazam is the best app since sliced bread for the iPhone.

Best answer: If you're looking for audio sampled in another song, you're better off checking sample lists (dnb focused) or sites that focus on movie or TV samples in songs (PsyDB).

Actually, the track was Cybernetic Jazz by Grooverider

Sound-hound is iphone only currently, so couldn't try it out on my G1. Shazam was able to ID the track correctly from a part without the sample
