The [story's] for the sad man...

I'm looking for a sad story I read on the internet. A son was browsing through his father's possessions after the father's death and came across a Pokemon game.
The son talks about how his father had a terrible stable of Pokemon, but then realizes that his father named the most important (?) or maybe first character after the son.
It is not this equally sad Animal Crossing comic.
Or this Zelda comic.

I hate to be the person that says this.. but the "mom" in Animal Crossing is just the computer. It sends you letters and presents every once and awhile to simulate living on your own.
The first time I read that comic, it made me sad x 2 knowing this :/

If all you want is proof you're not insane, I am 100% sure that I also read the Pokemon comic somewhere, but can't find it on google anymore either.
Try querying 4chan, of all places, because I think that's where I saw it posted.

In minor correction: I read the Pokemon STORY, but it was not in comic form as the Animal Crossing thing was.

I was shifting threw my deceased dad’s stuff the other day, trying to find some rare Spiderman comics that he saved up for Ebay use later.Thanks to internet detective (first class) Metroid Baby!
Stumbled on his original gameboy that he played a lot on. It had Pokemon Blue in it.
I thought, “why the hell not?” and started up. Continued from my dads old save, I checked out his items and then Pokemon.
His Team was terrible, a Zubat, a Raticate, a Beedrill…
But his Blastoise…
His Blastoise was nicknamed after me.
I cried.
