Recommendations for a Czech beer tour?

Have you had any good experiences with a guided beer tour in the Czech Republic? We'd like to get out into the countryside as much as possible, but would have to travel by bus for obvious reasons. Microbrews, out-of-the way places, not-overbearing tour guides and good food/accommodations a plus.

I didn't do a tour, but I did go to the beer tasting class offered in Prague. It's done by an Ameican, who happens to look and more remarkably, sound, very much like Nate, from Six Feet Under, only younger. It was okay. But frankly, there are better things to tour than beer, in the Czech Republic. Their beer is historically remarkable, but otherwise, quite pedestrian. Unless your taste is limited, save the beer touring for a country that actually has more variety and quality.

Czech Beer, pedestrian? Hmn? Well, Bohemia specializes in essential Pilsners, unlike the wylde range of diverse thingys you might find in Belgium, for example.

Sorry, cannot recommend a bus tour. Went on a car tour through Bohemia and Moravia years ago. Fascinating. Old castles. Fields of hops. Oh that wonderful smell. Great beer. Not a wide range, though, back then.

This NY Times article is from two years ago. It's focused on hiking, but some of the information in it is applicable, and it has links to bus schedules, some hotels and other good stuff.

I retraced the steps of that NY Times article this summer and it was fantastic. I didn't tour the brewery mentioned but I stopped in to try the unfiltered Bohemia Regent and it was great. Trebon is super lovely, and the Czech bus system is a dream!
