Why does Firefox poof my toolbars when I bookmark a page?

How do I stop Firefox from removing my Navigation and Bookmarks toolbars every time I save a bookmark?

This isn't a major issue but it is kind of annoying and I'd love to figure out how to stop it from happening. Every time I save a bookmark in Firefox (v 3.5.8 but its been doing this for the last several versions) both my Navigation and Bookmarks toolbars go poof.

Anyone know how to stop this from happening?

I'm on a Mac running 10.5.8 and it does not seem to make any difference if I've got one tab or ten open.

If you don't worry loosing your history you could try:

1. export your bookmarks and be sure to have a copy of your passwords!
2. close firefox
3. go to your Home folder, then Library:Application Support and move the Firefox folder to any other location (i.e. Desktop, Downloads, whatever)
4. start firefox
5. does this work?

If it does, import your bookmarks and install your extensions again.

If this doesn't work:

6.close firefox again
7. delete the newly created Firefox folder in Application Support
8. restore the old folder
9. start firefox again and you're back with your old profile
