Double-Sided Printing in Preview

How do I print a double-sided document in Snow Leopard's Preview?

I do a great deal of printing, and because I hate wasting paper, I always try to take advantage of double-sided printing whenever possible. I recently bought a used HP P2015 laser printer and while I like it, I can not get it to print PDF files on both sides of the page in Preview no matter what I try.

I can check the "Two-Sided" option, and I have the latest drivers, but Preview simply will not print my documents double-sided, and it's starting to piss me off.

What's really frustrating about this whole thing is that I can print web pages double-sided directly from Firefox, and my printer handles it perfectly. So I know that my printer is capable of doing it correctly. I could just be an idiot, but I've searched for a solution to this and I've come up blank.

Can anyone help?

Best answer: That's weird. I just printed a double-sided PDF document (with "long-edge binding" enabled) from Preview in 10.6.2. I have an HP 2300dn.

Perhaps you could visit HP's website to download whatever up-to-date drivers they offer, and install those?

Is there a web page you can print to a PDF file, which is more than two pages long when printed? Perhaps you can make a PDF from this web page, and try to print that from Preview.

Response by poster: Well, it looks like it was a driver issue: I uninstalled the drivers for the printer and installed the current set on HP's website and it appears to have solved the problem.

Thanks for the help!
