Toronto luggage repair?

Luggagefilter. I have to replace the main zipper on a large suitcase. Is there anywhere in the east end of Toronto that will do this? Alternatively, is it just more cost effective to simply buy a new piece of luggage?

Some tailors will work on luggage. But phone first, because some won't.

"Is there anywhere in the east end of Toronto that will do this?"
Yellowpages.com listings. And not in the east end, but I had a Hartmann suitbag's zipper fixed several years ago at Gold's Luggage Shop, and the repair was fast and has lasted to this day. Best of all, they billed the airline directly, so I had no issues, since the airline asked me to check the bag at the gate, instead of carrying it on.

Depends partly on the cost of the bag (in my case, with Hartmann, several hundred USD), and partly on the complexity of the repair, and time required to do it. Fortunately, a lot of zipper repairs that look like they'll require zipper replacement to the laymen, are easily and quickly fixed by professionals, with the appropriate tools and supplies. $20 and 10 minutes to replace a damaged slider, for example, or a little more money and 15 minutes to fix a coil type zipper, with coils that are badly borked. Even 15 minutes to fix a torn zipper tape on a heavy duty cast tooth zipper, all seem like good value for the money, if your bag is in otherwise decent shape to begin with.

Estimates are usually free.

Shoe repair shops might also do this kind of work.

Response by poster: Ended up taking it to the shoe place in Golden Mile. $15 and a couple of days to fix the zipper and add a new (but mismatched) slider.
