Dealing with unpleasantness back there

Question about non-typical deodorant use.

Sometimes the crack of my rear is not-so-fresh. Is there a good reason not to use some deodorant (of the roll-on/speed stick type) in that region of the body?

I have a friend who recently told me that she had solved the problem of getting yeasty under her large breasts by using deodorant under there in the summer. She uses something unscented and says she's had no ill effects.

Typically, whatever risks one associates with antiperspirant use are present regardless of the anatomy on which it's applied. It's not like your asscrack is more delicate than your axillary region. I hate the feeling of moisture, so I use it on my thighs in summer when it's more likely to be humid and sticky, & have suffered through no sad happenings.

It does taste something awful though, so be sure to inform your partner of all associated risks.

Are we talking deodorant or anti-perspirant?

If you've got a sweaty ass-crack, Gold Bond is what you want.

Cornstarch (from the grocery store, so there's no fragrance).

I've noticed that some deodorants work better (on my armpits) than others because of the way their scent melds with the scent of my BO. I'd be a little wary of the way the scent of deodorant might meld with the scent of shit. I'd personally go with the Gold Bond or other powder-based solutions.

I'm not sure what WCityMike is basing his opinion on. I've never heard of deodorant/antiperspirant causing ingrowns.

I'd only advise using a spray. A roll on or stick will come into contact with your downtown regions and probably get pretty awful in its own right. Gold Bond has aspirin in it and can cause a certain unpleasant tingly sensation when on sensitive skin. It also smells like medicine.

Drysol might work even better. I would like you to note, however, that while I've never heard of anyone having a reaction down there to the stuff, it's always possible.

Aluminum chloride is your friend when it comes to excessive sweating.

Seems like using an actual deodorant stick or roll-on on your crack would cause it to get funky pretty fast. I would suggest either a spray antiperspirant/deodorant or baby powder.

Antiperspirant is used by many people to prevent ingrowns when shaving pubic areas. Mennen seems to be the only mass market people making unscented antiperspirant so you could try that if you were worried about intersection of odours. I use it on my thighs as well as my arm pits with no ill effects. Apply directly out of the shower to avoid funkyness.

2nding powder, for it has miracle properties unappreciated by modern folk. Go for something with corn starch in it if sweatyness is your problem. A light application ought to do the trick.

You might also try keeping it extra clean by washing it in the shower everyday.

Oh, please no on the baby powder. I've encountered enough people in my life who reeked of a combination of stinky ass and baby powder that I can no longer stand the smell of baby powder even without the ass.

I've heard that strippers use stick deodorant in their nether regions to keep from getting shaving rash, so I imagine using it in between your freshly washed cheeks would be ok.

Go ahead and use the anti-perspirant. Maybe go pick up an unscented kind though since it's a more sensitive area.
