After seeing this impressive sketchbook I'm wondering what others are out there. What extraordinary scanned sketchbooks have people found out there?

My tastes are more toward the comic oriented than anything else, but these are two of my favs: Scott Bateman's Sketchbook of Secrets & Shame. Kris Dresen's GirlThrow

Here's a MeFi thread on one a while back.

This was more of a collective art project, but still an amazing sketchbook. Also, they have prints of pages and reproductions of the book available for purchase.

Metafilter's own atom128 keeps a very beautiful sketchbook.

graphpaper. flash and a bit sluggish. not so heavy on the illustration, but odd notes and things.

Jeff Lewis, a singer/folk slinger in NYC, has a couple galleries up.. Not really a bound book, but a a couple hundred sketches.

Some of the most intriguing journals I've ever seen were done by Tracy Moore. I've bought some of her weird stamps and papers. It'll take quite a while to look at all of the journals (one was done by a friend), and they're mind-blowing. I also second atom128's sketchbooks - gorgeous. So fluid.

The 1000 Journals project isn't sketchbooks, strictly speaking. But I demand that you and everyone else check it out if you haven't yet. You won't be disappointed.

This is a digital sketchbook where many people post their sketches. I learned many of my illustration skills from this board (although I must warn you, there is a lot of childish amatuer work there...it used to not be like that...but there was a newbie flood there and well, you know what usually happens after that).

A few gems can still be found there, see here, here, here and here

thank you so much for that link to atom128.

the drawings are almost sculptural, with this great sense of proportion & balance.
