What music to play at our Wedding?
We are getting married and I have been put in charge of organising the music for this event. Music is important to me, and I want it to be a memorable part of our celebration.
Budget limitations has me looking to book a local act, maybe a solo guitarist, maybe even two, and I think I have in mind the kind of gig I would like.
The kind of gig you would hear at pubs in London on a Friday night in 2001.
I need a list of popular and powerful songs that sound good without a backline, which will get people dancing, and singing and sharing the celebration of our commitment to each other. I want to engage as many people as possible so older and newer stuff.

Response by poster: That thread wouldn't work as a playlist. I haven't heard of the Zombies and not When I'm 64 (it was the song of my father's first wedding).

Previously about good wedding music for dancing. Not exact, but it should help you.
And I agree with the first poster on that thread that Motown always works.

Best answer: My wife picked the music at our wedding and deliberately kept it secret. If it helps, she picked music that meant something to both of us. In the end, she walked down the aisle to Tears for Fears - "Head Over Heels" because I had taken her to see Donnie Darko at the pictures when we started going out.
She considered Love Will Tear Us Apart but thought the oldies wouldn't get it. You know.
