Where does "Perhaps, rabbit. Perhaps" come from?

"Perhaps, rabbit. Perhaps." - An old boss of mine used this quote all the time. Any clue what it's from?
By the way..it should be done in a thick irish brogue..a la most of the cartoon cops on Bugs.

Response by poster: You're my hero, spicynuts!
And it's nice to know my boss was misquoting it all this time.

"Would I throw in a lit match if he were hiding in here?"
"Hmmmm... you might, Rabbit. You might."
Classic.

Yes, I agree with spicynuts. A friend of mine says this all the time (with the irish accent) and uses both variations.

I think I can also quote you the "Atsa mattah you no like me AYYY atsa mattah for you" song by the pizza guy if you want too. That's another one of my favorites.

Searching the proper quote yields that it's from Bugs and Thugs.

Either your boss commented on some of these forums, or a number of people have the quote wrong exactly as he did.

If the boss didn't get it wrong, I'd say it sounds like a Winnie the Pooh quote to me. But I can find no evidence of this on the internet.

Aye, Winnie the Poo was the first thought in my mind as well. I'm not sure if I want to say the Owl or Eeyore said it, though.

Yep - definately Bugs. I actually have a copy of the toon. Given the circumstances, is there any legal way for me to share a portion of the vid without breaking the copyright?

Review it (write up some commentary), and make your clip considerably shorter than the whole clip, and it should be covered by fair use, if you're in America.

it reminds me of the old show, Kung Fu, like that grasshopper quote.

Rather than post a url that will eventually die and corrupt the archives, I'll e-mail the clip to anyone who wants it. Addy in profile.

And the officer says "You might, rabbit, you might".
One of my faves.
