Trying to remember the name of a book

I'm trying to remember the name and author of a book. I used to own it. It's about a journalist who goes to -- I think The American Culinary Institute -- or some other such school, to learn how to be a chef.

It's not Bill Buford's book -- this book is about someone who goes to school. It was probably published within the last 10 or 15 years. The cover was perhaps maroon and brown. I lent it to someone and never got it back and I would love to read it again. I keep thinking the title was Eat or something simple like this -- but it never appears on Amazon searches.

I remember the writer -- whose first profession was a journalist -- many times being called out by the teaching chefs for not being serious enough. The writer perhaps had an uncle who was a chef?

Does anyone know the book I mean? Thanks.

Ruhlman has also written two follow-ups to "Making of a Chef", "The Soul of a Chef" and "The Reach of a Chef".

Ruhlman is also in a couple of episodes of No Reservations with his friend Anthony Bourdain. Las Vegas and Cleveland, I think.

The first book is the best one, if you ask me. But that is the title.

Not by the same author, but of the same ilk: Making of a Pastry Chef.
