In Microsoft Word, how do I move/resize a textbox so that the border doesn't fall on the gridlines?

I believe you hold down the CTRL key while moving the box with the mouse. That or the ALT key.

Turn off 'Snap to grid'. Drawing Toolbar --> Draw --> Grid... dialogue.
