Was Chuck Mangione's song "Feel So Good" ever used as a TV theme song?

My husband and I have both been googling for hours, with no luck. I finally gave in and came here to query all of you. Was Chuck Mangione's song "Feel So Good" ever used as the theme song or lead-in to a television show? (MI)

Googling gave me nothing until I tried googling groups, and then I came up with some signs that others have asked this same thing...only no answers. Here's one ...here's another.

Its a recognizable tune but many people may not know it by name. To jog peoples memory, theres a tiny sample available from this amazon page.

I don't think so. I looked around and found nothing. This, I believe, is his official website (it says it on the main page), and though it does mention some of his work being used for the olympics as well as his King of the Hill appearances, there's nothing there about a sitcom theme song.

I don't recognize the song from the clip, but from what I've read, there seems to be a bit of a backlash against it. Seems it got quite a bit of airplay.

Shit, I looked too, and I think the answer is no. If the answer was yes it would've showed up in his biographies and stuff.

For what it's worth, it seems the song was used in the movie Intolerable Cruelty, and he's also got composer's credits for "Blast!" on TV, and Fargo. So that's me with the blatantly obvious IMDB search.

And another from the obvious imdb search department (Search google), it seems a variation of the song was used on Friends (Episode 4.19).

In early 80's it was used for a morning TV news show I am certain. Maybe Good Morning America.

Man, I was coming up with nothing until evilelf mentioned a morning show -- now I'm convinced he's right, but I can't remember which show.

evilelf, that's ringing a faint bell with me too. Could it have been used as a local news theme song?

Maybe, I was living in the Boston area at the time. For some reason I think Good Morning America though. Don't know why I was watching it...

I seem to remember hearing it used as into/outro music on television broadcasts of PGA golf tournaments back in the '70s.

I dont about it being used as a theme song but I do recall it being the song typically used while the morning shows did either a photo slideshow or an on-screen listing of community events. Maybe thats why people remember it?

I seem to recall this, too. Was Tom Snyder the host, maybe?

Best answer: This question's been driving me nuts. I emailed his agent, who says no, the song's never been used for an official theme song, but it is used in King of the Hill, which we already knew. I also emailed someone in charge of licensing and copyrights of Mangione's songs, so if it's ever been used for anything on television, legally, he'll know about it.

Talk about your earworms...

Ha! During my youth, this song always played before every movie at the Excelsior Dock Cinema while they showed a montage piece featuring local businesses.

I always thought it was some terrible local artist playing a cheesy tune. Imagine my surprise when I heard it later in life outside of Excelsior.

While it would be a stretch to say I like the song, I can appreciate it more now than I did as an insolent child!

It kind of evoked the Hill Street Blues theme song for me.

I also have dim memories of a 70's daytime show with a theme (end credits, I think) that sounded remarkably like "Feels So Good." My faulty memory suggests it was early Donahue, although I have been unable so far to back this up. (Mike Douglas, maybe?)

It's good to know I'm not alone.

Maybe people are confusing it with the theme of The Dating Game? They sound similar to me. (wild guess #3)
