Does anyone know of any good software for mixing mp3s and making mixes on a mac or pc? That is free/open source.

a less dj oriented solution for general sound editing is audacity.

If you're really an amateur, you probably don't have time to worry about learning beatmatching and mix techniques. iTunes with a crossfade and a playlist usually does the trick. Mac and PC.

I've had fun with audacity. It's good for cutting tracks up and pasting them together. You can get real fancy but it's free and has an intuitive interface.
