BUtton Button Who's Got The Button

Shibboleth-Filter: I saw a man on the NYC subway wearing a strange button. A green san-serif "L" on a white background with a big red "No" strike-through symbol. Googlefu is failing me. What was he for or against anyway?

No-L. Noel. It's a Christmas button.

Maybe it was a Christmassy pun - 'NO L' = 'NOEL'.

Probably not.

He's opposed to the L line on the subway?

Best answer: "No L Buttons."

Here's one for sale on e-bay, and the seller certainly seems to think it's a 'Noel' pun.

Response by poster: How strange! it was green so I didn't think he hated the L-line. I was expecting something super-obscure but no, it was a pun.

Story of my life.

Yes, it is a No(e)L button. A foot soldier in the War on Christmas, no doubt.

Heh. I'm Jewish, and even I like that button. The Ho3 button is pretty clever as well.

I have one of these. Now that you mention it, I must go dig it out.

Brings me back to the scintillating witticisms of grade school.

Why does the alphabet have only 25 letters? Because the angel said, "Noel".

Why does the alphabet have only 24 letters? Because L&M went out to smoke.

Feel free to giggle uncontrollably.

L&M? Do they even make those any more?
