can i get alibaba.com to "invent" a smell for me?
i want to make a fragrance. i'm not a chemist but i want it to smell exactly like, let's say, carrots. is there a way to find someone who will be able to make that product for me? i'm at alibaba.com and it's seems like i can only find people who already have a scent created, opposed to offering to create my scent. if anyone has experience with alibaba.com or just knows what i need to do, let me know, man! word, thanks.

Best answer: I think parmanparman might be referring to Christopher Brosius, who created the Demeter Fragrance Library (I don't think he's connected with it anymore) and now has a shop called I Hate Perfume. He has a custom perfume service, but the website says that he is too busy to accept new clients at the moment. However, you could ask him to contact you when he is ready to take on new clients again.
(I had a bottle of the Rain scent from Demeter, and it did indeed smell a lot like the street after a good rain.)

Best answer: Alibaba is only a business to business commerce site. They are not going to be able to do anything besides putting you in touch with Chinese companies. Some of these companies may be able to create a new sent for you, but you will need to establish direct contact with them first.
