GPS units for PDAs [+]

I'm looking into getting a GPS unit for use with my PDA, a Dell Axim x50, and which would hopefully also work with my laptop (but if it doesn't, oh well). The PDA has Bluetooth, Compact Flash, SD, and 802.11b. The laptop has USB and 802.11b.

Would something like this Bluetooth GPS receiver plus this Bluetooth USB adapter be the most cost-effective option?

Or a CF GPS card with a CF adapter for the laptop?

I've already got MS Streets/Pocket Streets, so bundled software isn't really an issue.

I would start my search and expect to end it at:

http://www.garmin.com/

Try emailing them through their sales support form if you aren't sure.

And yes, I'd head for a Bluetooth option.

The gold standard for Bluetooth GPS units is the Fortuna Clip On. I couldn't be happier with mine. I use it with my Windows Smartphone, but the beauty is that it also works with my brother's Nokia, my laptop, PDA, and any other future bluetooth computer (In car Mac Mini, anyone?).

Pocket streets is OK, but a little inconvenient, as there is a maximum size for the maps created from MS Streets. You can't put the entire UK in one lump on there, for example. You have to split the maps into smaller areas.

There are several great GPS mapping / routefinding apps out there, and once again, the beauty of Bluetooth means that (for the most part), you can interchange at will.
