Human Resources Professionals - What websites, news outlets, blogs, etc. do you and your colleagues read to keep up with events in your field?

Hey all. I'm looking to find out about all things human resources from the perspective of a working professional. This includes government activity as well (I'll be keeping an eye on the Senate HELP Committee and the House Education and Labor Committee plus the US Dept. of Labor). Are there other relevant government agencies that I should keep an eye on (or a division within any of these that are especially important)? Do you ever look at think tank white papers? What are the relevant keywords you use to keep up with the news? Blogs?

Like I said above, I'm looking for all things HR and I'm approaching this from a perspective of near-total beginner status. Thanks all!

Check out Cheezhead.com, which is about recruiting, and SHRM, the Society for Human Resource Management.

If you are interested in compliance issues, Compliance Week. The D&O diary is good (in that it discusses issues that companies are really scared of getting in trouble about, hence issues HR might deal with), but might be a little too legal or advanced for you. There is also the Corporate Executive Board for research and whitepapers, but I think you have to buy an (expensive) membership, though if you work for a big company they may already be members.

DOL website has a lot of very useful basic stuff on laws you might be dealing with a lot, like the FMLA.

EEOC website likewise has good basic info on other important laws you might be dealing with, like the ADA.

There are dozens of great HR blogs these days. The reigning queen of HR blogging is a woman named Laurie Reuttimann. Go to Punkrockhr.com and check out her links, and then check out both ERE.net and workforce.com for more generalized information.

If you prefer email,Smartbrief offers several different daily summaries of interesting conversations in the HR/Leadership Blogosphere. (Full disclosure, I'm on their HR Advisory Board.)

A bunch of us HR nerds like to argue on twitter as well. Follow me on Twitter and I'll send you to some HR Pro Twitter lists. I look forward to saying hi!
