iTunes fails to launch in recently upgraded Windows 7

Why won't iTunes start after I've upgraded to Windows 7?

I've just upgraded to Windows 7 and my iTunes won't launch. I've uninstalled and reinstalled and still no luck.

I have tried to troubleshoot from ITunes and Windows support sites to no avail.

Any suggestions?

Which version of Windows 7 are you running? If it is 64 bit, you will need to locate the 64 bit version of Itunes.

I had the same problem, just had to upgrade to 64-bit itunes and everything was hunky dory.

I did have to completely exorcise itunes from my system first for it to work, though. Had to reimport my whole library, but meh, that's what overnight is for.

Do a complete uninstall. Restart the system. Then reinstall - be sure to put your ITunes folder somewhere different.

When I did the Win7 upgrade, it told me to make sure to de-authorize iTunes before upgrading. I did that and didn't have any issues with it. This leads me to think strixus' solution is probably your best course of action.
