How do I get a WASTE network working on a Mac?

WASTEfilter: I'm trying to set up a WASTE network with my buddy, and we can't seem to get it to work at all. I'm running the client on OS X, and he's using Windows. We've sent each other our keys, but we can't seem to get the two to communicate. I can't really find any good sources of info for WASTE on the Mac, does anyone know if it works?

You're connecting to each other, right? If you stay connected for a little bit, the keys will eventually be traded (the manual key entry doesn't seem to work from my experience), at least in theory.

The one time I got WASTE to work it was by the method of "fucking with it till it works"... not the most user-friendly software by a long shot. Handy once you get it working, though.

I can't seem to connect to him, although he does show up from time to time in my Network Status window. It says "Authenticating" and then it justs stays there forever.

We are in the midst of FWITIW right now.

Make sure port 1337 is forwarded if you've got a router. Make sure the IPs are correct. If you have a network name, make sure it matches. And it seems to be better to exchange network keys beforehand (via IM or something).

But yeah it can be a PITA to set up.

Second double checking the network name. Seems too simple to neglect, but it happens a lot.

make sure you are both using the same versions--the newer builds that are posted by the sourceforge group are not compatible with the older stuff.

the general consensus amongst the nullsoft folk is that the newer builds are ass. though the older versions had their share of bugs, you'd both be better off with them.
