Can we assume that you've installed QuickTime? And that embedded QuickTime movies play correctly in IE (or Opera or Safari or Konqueror...)?

It would also be nice to know what platform you're on.

Also, can you view the trailers at Apple's trailer site?

Works for me. What happens when you try to do so?

quicktime alternative

it comes with media player classic which plays pretty much everything without trouble, except for ogm and mkv (additional codecs for them).

I don't know this to be true, but I would suspect that if you installed Quicktime before Firefox, Quicktime wouldn't know that Firefox existed, and therefore the plug-in or whatever wouldn't be installed for Firefox.

On my Win2K systems, QuickTime works fine even though installed (long) before FireFox. However, as with all things Win, YMMV, and a new QT install would most likely fix it.

Cannot say what would happen on Mac or XP. But again, I would expect a new QT install to fix the problem.

Response by poster: I have installed and unistalled a few times. This had been an issue on winxp since the beginning. Never any use.

There's an extension, MediaPlayerConnectivity, which allows you to assign a different program to view embedded media. For instance, you can download the mpc player that EvilKenji linked to and then configure this extension to play quicktime using that program.
