A Eugene Christmas

Christmas in Eugene, Oregon -- Can any among you recommend some family activities here during the Christmas week, December 22-24?

We prefer non-shopping experiences but are open to suggestions. Eating experiences on the other hand... well, serve it up! Entertainment is our main interest. Museums, shows? All adults accompanied by a six-year-old.

You could go check out the Holiday Market at the fairgrounds. It is basically our Saturday Market moved indoors. There is music, crazy delicious food and tons of arts and crafts to look at- no buying required! And the people watching cannot be beat.

The Saturday Market is one of my favorite things about Eugene- check it out!

The Eugene Weekly has a pretty comprehensive calendar that you could check on in advance of your trip.

As for the Holiday Market (which I never go to but to a visitor or someone new to town, it's great), here is a listing of the entertainment that could be helpful.

For food, you can't go wrong with the Glenwood on 13th and Alder, it's very family friendly. Also check out the Sweet Life for an awesome sugar coma. For entertainment I'd search the Eugene Weekly calendar the week before your trip. The place is kind of dead during the holidays because it's basically a college town, but you might find something you like in there.
