Sick of the library

Atlanta-filter: Any good late-night places to get some work done in the Emory and Druid Hills area, or possibly beyond?

I moved to Atlanta for school this fall. I'm getting a little sick of the library, though, and I'm having trouble finding a good place conducive to studying, late at night, off campus. Free wireless is a huge bonus, though not absolutely necessary.

I know there's a Caribou Coffee a few blocks off the Emory campus that's open until 2 a.m. or so, but that's the only option I know of so far. All the Starbuckses and Paneras and so on close up shop pretty early, it seems.

Thanks!

If you don't need it to be terribly quiet, you could try setting up camp at the Taco Mac in Decatur. It's open until 2 a.m. during the week. For some reason I think they have wifi, but you'd have to double-check.

The Majestic on Ponce is also open 24/7. Again, I'm not sure you're going to find a place that is both open late at night and also quiet, but it's worth a shot.

Cafe Intermezzo has great coffee and desserts and is open late.

Inman Perk is open til 11 and again, good coffee.

Neither of those is exactly Emory area, but they're not that far afield, either. Have you tried asking fellow students for their ideas?

Good luck. North Druid Hills tends to call it a night early. It's good if you work during the day and live there, because it's quiet, but I can see how it wouldn't be all that great if you're a night owl. You might look around the intersection of Clairmont and N. Decatur Rd. There's at least one coffee shop (whose name eludes me), and several restaurants in that area. And there's a Caribou Coffee at the intersection of N. Druid Hills and Lavista that's open pretty late. I don't know if that's the one you're referring to or not. There's also a Dunkin' Donuts at that same intersection, but I don't know their hours either. They do have free wi-fi, though.

There's a Waffle House near the corner of Scott and Church. That's about the only 24-hour place I can think of, but you'll have to drive there.

Yup, my alma mater is not so great with the late nite.
Midtown Promenade which is a little ways away has several late night/wifi options since Apres Diem, Highlander, and the Independent are all there.
This list: http://www.wififreespot.com/ga.html is a bit outdated but may give you some ideas.

I love Joe's Coffee. It's a bit of a drive from you, but it's one of the best coffee places I've ever been to anywhere. (I hated living in Atlanta, and that place was my refuge for 6 long months).

Do you have a car? That will make a big difference in what's available to you... I did my late night studying mostly at a Waffle House near my Atlanta alma mater... but I also had a) friends with cars and b) a huge ass by the time I graduated. (damn you, tasty tasty hashbrowns!)

Octane Coffee! My favorite. Westside is open later than Emory, and the Emory shop is a pretty tiny little place.

Apres Diem
is good (I used to work there), but it gets a bit nuts at night. Not conducive to work, unless you like chaos around you.

Carroll Street Cafe, in Cabbage Town. It's open til 1 on Fri - Sat. Wifi is a-go. (Tell Anessa I sent you!)

Fellini's is open pretty late at most of their locations, and they're everywhere. But I have no idea on the wifi situation.

Manuel's has wifi and historically played host to many an Emory Student. You can find them tucked away by themselves somewhere, or sitting at big round tables reading bar exam questions to each other.

You would definitely need a car though.

The Atlanta Diner is 24-hour, and was pretty quiet the few times I went there late. (I was staying at the hotel next door.) I don't think they have wireless.
