GodfatherPart2Filter: Does anyone know what game Senator Geary was playing...
...with the prostitute that ended up dead? It occurs about halfway through the movie, and Tom Hagen (Robert Duvall's character) comes in to "save" the Senator. Anyone have an idea what game it was the Senator was playing with the prostitute?

My feeling from watching the movie is that he was set up.
I think.
a. He liked to indulge in rough play with hookers.
b. The Corleone family knew this.
c. They drugged him enough to be able to start his session, but pass out a few hours later and importantly before he could leave the premises.
d. The Corleone family arranged for the hooker to be butchered to incriminate the Geary - so he was in their debt for favours.
Kattullus: I agree with you. But I didn't see that in G2. What cut of the movie is that scene in ?

Response by poster: I realize he was set up - it's pretty obvious from the circumstances, and from what Tom Hagen says to him. But Senator Geary says that he remembers he was playing a game with the prostitute, a game that they had played before. That's what I am asking about - what game were they playing?

I always thought he liked using a gun to, well, pleasure his woman, and that the Corleones took advantage of that.

It's been a while since I've seen the movie, but that was just my impression from the scene. It's obviously credible to Geary that he could have accidentally shot her. What kind of kinky game could they have been doing with a gun? Can't recall now whether they show the wound, but I believe her head is intact.

Nondescript sadomasochistic sex. There isn't even a gun shown in the scene, reviewing it now; we only see that the girl was tied up.
I don't think there was anything particularly special or interesting about the 'game' comment, which came from the fright-addled Senator as a sort of backhanded justification: "it was just a game..." I doubt he was implying that they'd been playing some elaborate game with rules. He liked rough sex; that's all.

It's in the original cut; you've almost certainly seen this, you just might not have noticed. When Tom walks in, it's a pretty disgusting bloodbath, with the freaked-out Senator sitting on the bed; but Tom, sizing up the situation, immediately looks past the Senator into the bathroom, where Neri is washing his hands. It happens fast, but it's in every cut of the movie so far as I know; it's just as the Senator starts to cry.
