Do they have to notify boyfriend?

Does social security have to notify BF if his check is being withheld?

My boyfriend was in jail for 2 weeks, and he's worried that he will not receive his check today. Usually it's in the bank by now and he still has not received it. He had a misdemeanor, he plead guilty and he is currently sentenced to probation. Do they have to notify him if they withhold his check?

According to this page, Social Security benefits are not paid for the months you have been sentenced to a jail, prison or correctional facility or confined to certain public institutions for committing a crime. He will need to request that they start again when he is released.
