Question: GSM mobile phone / PDA: should I get a secondhand Treo 180 or one of the Series 60 Nokias?

With the sudden and untimely death of my Zire, plus growing dissatisfaction with my Sony/Ericsson T300, I'm in the market for a cheap combo GSM mobile phone and organizer, but cannot yet afford a Treo 600/650. Should I get a secondhand Treo 180, or spend a little more for one of the Series 60 Nokias? And if the latter, which one should I go for: 3660, 6600, 7650, or something else?

Well, I love my N-Gage and I think they're the cheapest and second most powerful Series 60 phone. No camera though.

Otherwise, I'd recommend the 6600.

I second the sentiments regarding the N-Gage (I've got the original -- the QD is lacking in features) and also second the recommentation of the 6600.

Or, if you can afford it and your provider supports it, a 6620 (EDGE-capable) or 6630 (UMTS-capable) and an unlimited data plan is close to geek nirvana.

The Series 60s are nice, but bear in mind, no touchscreen. The 66x0 is considerably newer (and smaller) than the 36x0 which is newer than the 7650. The 7610 is newer still and almost the size of a regular phone. Complete list of S60 Nokias.

(Don't get a Sendo X, they suck)

Granted, I didn't comparison price shop for some of the devices you mentioned, but the new BlackBerry is relatively inexpensive.

I haven't used this model personally, but I have used a number of different models over the years and they're great devices.

They get some pretty decent reviews too.

I don't know anything about it personally, but I was intruiged by this Slate article: The Super Phone You Can Get for Free: Ditch your Treo for a dirt-cheap Nokia. Anyone have experience with it?
