Tab it up

My wife used to love Tab energy drink both for the burst of energy and for the flavor. We can't find it any more. She needs an energy drink tonight to rev up for Halloween festivities. Are there any commonly found (we live in the midwest) energy drinks that taste similar to the Tab energy drink?

Have you tried Pibb Xtra? When I lived in Ohio, I drank Mr. Pibb all the time, and it was very similar to Tab here on the East Coast.

He is talking about the Tab energy drink, not normal Tab. I think I had it once and liked the taste, but I can't remember exactly what it was. "Red Bull Cola" comes to mind, but that is not sugar-free.

Response by poster: Well to clarify, Tab energy drink tasted NOTHING like Tab. It was a thick flavor somewhat like grass clippings (sounds appetizing I know). My wife doesn't like cola or really any soda.

Dr. Soda

Never dealt with them myself, just googled.

has she tried sugar free redbull? according to some reviews people say that tab energy tastes like liquid jolly ranchers or melted sweet tarts. i think that red bull tastes quite a bit of melted sweet tarts.

it seems there's some sort of vegetable juice in there as well - maybe a redbull and one of the v8 fruit juices?

for the future, you could order her some for christmas (never used this site, found it via google)

specifically on the v8 juice, it won't be the same of course, but i could see taking sugar free red bull and the goji raspberry v8 fusion. (add vodka and you have a pre party pick me up and a prefunk all wrapped into one - of course, be careful mixing booze with energy drinks)

A thick flavor sort of like grass clippings? Sounds like matcha.

Matcha (powdered green tea) definitely gives a buzz. Its too late for tonight, but both Jamba Juice and Starbucks will make drinks with matcha shots. If you have a Japanese grocery store nearby, you may be able to find a canned "energy drink" made with it.
