How can I quickly name and tag TV episodes ripped from DVD?

Is there an ripping/converting application that will automate naming and labeling of TV episodes copied from DVD?

I own a lot of TV on DVD, and with my newly rebuilt Windows Home Server, I'd like to rip it to hard disk so that I can view it anywhere in the house at any time. I normally use Handbrake to rip and convert, but in this case the problem is that I don't want to spend endless hours naming, labeling, and tagging episodes individually. Is there a program or service that will automate the naming and/or tagging of the video files by episode that result from each disk being ripped? Ideally, I'd insert the disk, rip the episodes from it, and they would save with the name of the series, the season and episode number, and the episode title. My main system with the fastest drive is running Windows 7 Professional, but I'd settle for OS X, Vista, XP -- I'd even drag out my Ubuntu box and update it if need be.

Epnamer would seem to fit your bill. Type in the show name (or it'll pull from the parent folder name. click on search and it'll parse any episode data already in the file (season, series, ep name) and format it to your specs (I believe it uses TVRage and/or TVDB). Downside is that it can only do one folder at a time.

I can't try that out until I get home, but from the screenshots it looks like it needs a fair deal of starting information before it can accurately rename. I'm looking for something that will most likely identify what the series and episodes are from the disc id, and then rip/name appropriately.

TVRipper automates this by acting as a wrapper to DVD Decrypter.

Should you need to automate working with TV discs already ripped to your hard drive in File mode, check out DDtool.
