What is the song used in this YouTube video? I know it's kind of a stretch, but I can't get it out of my head! Recommendations of similar music are good too.

reminds me of the intro to where it's at by Beck.

It reminded me of some of the music featured on the soundtrack of the movie "Get Shorty" - for example this track by Us3. John Lurie was principally responsible for this soundtrack.

Maybe Medeski Martin and Wood?

If you expand the Statistics & Data dropdown underneath the video it says the song is a 'jazzy intro' by DJ Logic. I can't find the exact song, but he's got quite an extensive itunes-available discography on his site as well as a decent archive of fan recordings on the internet archive.

The sample did indeed seem similar to that used in "where it's at". This page about that song claims that Beck may have sampled/borrowed the keyboard riff from that off "In the Ghetto" by Donny Hathaway. Anyway - you might like to check out his music too.

Beck is possibly not the only one who has been there: DJ Logic's facebook page lists Donny Hathaway's page as one of his favourites too.

To me it sounds like a version of 'Spooky' ... here's the Dusty Springfield version and the original.

The Sam Yahel Organ Trio opened for Steely Dan this year and were fantastic. You might like their particular flavor of skating rink jazz.
