Arsenal Streaming Audio Options October 29, 2009 11:53 AM Subscribe
What's the best way for me, in the U.S., using 3G, not wi-fi, to stream audio of Arsenal games to my iPhone? posted by boombot to sports, hobbies, & recreation (6 comments total)
You may be able to catch available games via the Sirius iPhone app (for $7 a month, I think?) if you can get the sports over the iPhone app. You'll need to verify that they push all the sports through the iPhone app - much of it is excluded from the standard internet coverage. Audio over 3G should be decent enough. posted by iknowizbirfmark at 12:06 PM on October 29
I can't speak for the football providers, but 3G is definitely enough to present a good solid audio stream, even with the unpredictable like live sports. MLBtv's baseball app for iPhone, for example, worked very well for me this season. Even when ducking in and out of dead coverage zones (subways, ugh) the worst result was a 10-20 second pause while rebuffering before the audio returned exactly where it left off.
(Of course, I would then 20 seconds behind "live", but who ever notices or cares about that?) posted by rokusan at 12:18 PM on October 29
If you want to go down the slightly shady streaming video route, you can use sopcast and Orb to stream the video of the match to your iphone. I put together a tutorial of how to set it up on my blog, which is linked in my profile. posted by gergtreble at 7:42 AM on October 30
