How can I "show them around" in the rain?

How can I show a couple relatives the neighborhoods from Brooklyn Heights to Prospect Park this weekend – it’s going to be cold and rainy!

You might not be able to do as much neighborhood wandering as you'd like, but there's still plenty to show them. Combine a few short, well-chosen neighborhood strolls with some nice indoor attractions. For example: a stroll along the promendade in Brooklyn Heights (it's very atmospheric in the rain!), then a hot chocolate break at Jacques Torres (if you want to show them a bit of DUMBO) or Tazza. Hop on the 2/3 to Eastern Parkway and duck into the Brooklyn Museum and the Brooklyn Public Library; if it's Saturday the farmer's market at Grand Army Plaza will still be in full swing even if it's raining. Just bring umbrellas and good footwear, don't plan to be outside for too long at a stretch, and you'll be fine! Take along the number of a good car service (I like Arrecibo - 718-783-6465) just in case.
