How to transfer video from camera to computer

I have a Sony DCR-DVD92 video camcorder that records video on DVD-Rs. I have finalized the disc on the camera and I'm trying to capture the video onto my PC for storage/editing, but the camera doesn't seem to connect to my PC, and my PC DVD player doesn't seem to recognize the mini DVD-Rs that the camera uses. Any suggestions?

Does it play in a standalone DVD player?
When inserted into a computer, are there any files displayed on the disc (such as a VIDEO_TS folder)? What media player are you using? Are you able to play regular DVDs with the same program?
Do you have the Picture Package software from Sony? Will it allow you to access the disc?

I think these kind of camcorders are a staggeringly poor idea on some many levels. One of those levels being you probably need proprietary software from the manufacturer just to get at your video.

Try googling "DCR-DVD92 software site:sony.com" if you don't have the disc...

There are several programs out there that will let you read the data even from unfinished dvds. ISObuster is one of them, but you have to pay for it.

Response by poster: Sorry if my original question wasn't clear, but the DVD player/drive on my computer doesn't seem to even recognize these mini-CVD-Rs; it just keeps trying but doesn't ever confirm that there's a disk in the drive so software solutions aren't viable.

ISObuster will be able to read the DVD if there is info on there, even if the DVD doesn't show up in windows explorer.
