Zebra hair?

I want to be a zebra! (nothing to do with Halloween)

So after a lot of deliberating, I decided to go for a very dracula-ish retro-sophisticated hairdo, something like this.

I cannot think of how to explain it to my hair dresser. I can't even find any decent pictures! Can you help me find some, or tell me the name of this style? My hair is naturally brown, and I want one or two blond bunches (can't decide where they would go). Similar ideas would be really appreciated!

Help!

This used to be what the cool kids had when I was at school!

It was sort of like hair pulled into a half-ponytail, and the underneath bit was bleached (or darkened if you were already blonde). Is this what you meant?

I think the phrase for googling is 'two-tone', if I've correctly interpreted what you're after - a slightly chavvy version is here I think it could look much cooler than this!

Response by poster: yeah, something like that, citands. I think the way you style it can brake it or make it, though!

TWinbrook8, something like that but a lot more exaggerated and with bigger blond bunches!

I have been looking for two- toned hair on Google, but they show absolutely every thing but what I'm looking for. I want something that looks almost 50's.

I would start by telling them that you don't want to look like either a skunk or Cruella de Vil.

Unless you like either of those hairdos, of course.

Maybe the best bet - particularly if they remember the eighties - is to describe it as a reverse Terri Nunn (from Berlin) (she's on the left - Drew Barrymore, obviously, is on the right).

It's hard to find a good picture of it online, but are you looking for something like Madeline Kahn's hair in Young Frankenstein? I found an interesting little article about the streak of white hair in classic cinema. It's a striking and very cool look.

Response by poster: Yes, something of those lines! I was thinking platinum blond, but white would be awesome, too.

Best answer: The phrase you may want to search for is "Mallen streak." I found a better picture of something like this here. I can't find any examples online but I bet this sort of coloring would look great with a Marilyn Monroe style.

Response by poster: That is exactly what I want. Mallen streak + Marilyn Monroe.
